Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
It’s finally here! The film adaptation of the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie drops on Amazon Prime on September 17. And if the trailer’s anything to go by, the film is set to be just as successful as the smash hit stage musical!
Audra McDonald Hosts The Kennedy Center’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Concert
Six-time Tony winner, Audra McDonald, will host The Kennedy Center’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Concert on September 14. The concert will feature a host of star performances, including Kelli O’Hara, Renée Fleming, and Tony Yazbeck. The concert will be broadcast on October 1 at 9PM ET on PBS, PBS.org and the PBS video app.
Paulo Szot is Billy Flynn!
Opera star and Tony winner Paulo Szot returns to Chicago from September 14 at Broadway’s Ambassador Theatre. He will resume his role as Billy Flynn, which he previously played from January 6 to January 31 2020. The cast also includes Ana Villafañe as Roxie Hart, Bianca Marroquín as Velma Kelly, and Tony winner Lillias White as Matron “Mama” Morton.
Szot won the 2008 Tony Award for his performance as Emile de Becque in the Broadway revival of South Pacific. Check out Szot’s performance of “This Nearly Was Mine” at Feinstein’s/54 Below in 2018.
World Premiere of Mystic Pizza Musical
The stage adaptation of the 1988 movie Mystic Pizza is scheduled to premiere at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine from September 1 through October 2. The cast will feature Krystina Alabado as Daisy, Kyra Kennedy as Kat, and Gianna Yanelli as Jojo. With a score of hit songs from the late 1980s and early 1990s, this is set to be a fun show!
Crossovers Live! Bernadette Peters
Have you been tuning in to the brilliant new series, Crossovers Live!, hosted by Brian Stokes Mitchell? The livestreamed talk show features a host of stars who have made the jump from stage to film, television or music. Episode 3 airs on September 20, when Brian Stokes Mitchell will be joined by Broadway icon, film, and TV star Bernadette Peters.
