Lion is a parody of the Cowardly Lion from the story The Wizard of Oz. Like the Cowardly Lion, he is almost constantly afraid and on edge. When he meets Beth, a young girl whisked to Oz from Kansas, he hyperventilates multiple times, fearing that she is there to kill him.
