Over the past few months, we have been asking our contributors here at StageAgent what some of their favorite theatre books were, whether it was for a summer read, something that greatly influences them, or just an amazing reference book to have on hand. So to kick off 2018, here’s a suggested reading list, a quick run down of 12 books recommended by the StageAgent team. We think there’s a little something here for everyone. Enjoy!
Whether you’re auditioning for a regional production of South Pacific or the pre-Broadway workshop of the next Hamilton (Hamilton II: Peggy’s Revenge), you need to prepare your music and be able to confidently speak to an accompanist. Remember that the accompanist is your friend. The accompanist wants you to be a fantastic singer that is a joy to collaborate with. But you will need to master a few things before embarking on the all-too-brief audition journey with your new musical collaborator.
You can act, you can sing, maybe you can even dance, play an instrument, and eat fire, but can you AUDITION?
